Open chat on Tutorials/Forums |
|
I created this area of the site because I like tutorials and forums and I was not able to find one that allowed for anyone to create a tutorial and then link it into a forum thread to discuss any issues. I also wanted to make this site free, because I believe that knowledge should be spread freely :)
To register, go to page and fill in the required details. There are some ISP (Internet Service Providers) that may not allow the email to self register with e.g. AOL, if this is the case please try and register with another email provider e.g. Hotmail, Yahoo (you will need to click on the Mail icon, since CodingFriends is using a mailing function and not from a mail client, the emails may be in the spam box, please check here as well (shall try and make it so this does not happen)).
The tutorial section is where you are able to post tutorials. Go to the section that you want to post a tutorial for e.g.Linux and you will find the"create a new tutorial" button. Once you have done this, you will go directly to the posting section. It is worth noting that if you wish to edit the tutorial you have created, then click on the"Alter this tutorial" button within the tutorial itself.
The tutorial posting area will display the section that you are posting into e.g Linux and below the "Title for the page" in this section, there is a white area for the tutorial to be typed. If you want to use them, there are some BBCodes available for use.
Once you have completed your tutorial, click on the Submit button and the tutorial will be inserted into the appropriate section.
If you wish to add a zip file of the tutorial, without having full code within the tutorial page for easier reading. Please compress the tutorial directory/files into a zip file, attached the zip file to the tutorial, I shall check the zip files before authorizing just in case there are any nasty virus etc. in them.
At the bottom of the tutorial you will then be able to click on "Create a forum thread for this tutorial", or, if there is already a forum thread created, a link will be present.
The forums are a place to chat about different ideas/problems about anything, within any area.
To create a thread within a forum there are 2 text input boxes on the bottom of the page. One is for the thread name and the other is for the firstpost within the thread. For example, you could use the BBCodes within the first post, then click the "create a new thread" button to insert the thread.
To comment within a thread, there will be a text input box at the bottom of the page. This text input is able to use the BBCodes if required, then click on the submit "post message" to insert the message.
These are
= URL to a site
title (e.g. BBC News)
[h] = header
[b] = bold
= Quote
[i] = italic
[u] = under lined
= Code highlighting
To use these, place the code around the text with the XML close at the end
of the text for example,
news.bbc.co.uk
