All being well one day soon i will be in the market for an HD LCD TV but if i could help it i don't want to spend that much.
Does anyone know of any good LCD TVs that would be worth looking at under 1k and that they would recommend?

under 1k at the mo is nice n crowded - all the better for you!
40" is feasible, nice size & decent res. In the near future you should start seeing the "True HD" 40" screens on the market - these are 1080p res (1920 x 1080 progressive) and are the top of the tree spec wise. pity theyre about £1500 at the mo, but a year ago that was the same for the lower spec screens...

Ideal setups:
Samsung & sony bravia screens, 40" 1080p
£1500 or so at the moment, coming down.
Sky HD
£300 installed, 30-40 per month but theres other goodies bundled now like phone & broadband
Sony PS3 or MS xbox 360 (i prefer 360, but thats personal)
£300-£400
AV amp, with 5.1 speakers & dolby digital decoding - anything nice.
£250 or so for the super nice Logitech Z5500 digital £2-3k for those who can go bananas...
The PS3 or 360 could be replaced by a HTPC setup, but the integrated nature of both super consoles makes them very living room friendly.
BUT counterstrike has to be seen to be believed on a 40" screen....so a decent gaming PC hooked up is a consideration!
